Horta, the best neighbourhood to live in Barcelona.

Darya Homes on July 3, 2020

To the northeast of Barcelona lies this unique neighbourhood. With a long and rich history, still visible in its architecture, living in Horta – Guinardó means preserving the essence of quiet residential living. Both, away from Barcelona noisiest area and just a few steps away from the city centre.

Historically, in Horta – Guinardó the upper bourgeoisie of Barcelona resided, especially during the summer months. Some of the farmhouses from medieval times are still preserved, such as Can Fargas or Can Cortada. A neighbourhood that experienced great growth and is currently very well connected by metro and bus to both the centre of Barcelona and the main points of interest such as Barceloneta beach or the Sagrada Familia.

What are the neighbourhoods of the Horta – Guinardó district like?

Made up of 11 sub-neighbourhoods, it is the fourth most populous district in Barcelona and the third-largest in the city. 58% of its population are families residing in single-family houses, narrow streets, parks and country houses, that is, living away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

One of the singularities of these Horta – Guinardó neighborhoods is their relationship with art. The 1987 work Los Mistos, by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, a huge large matchbox lying on the ground with one of them lit, is representative of this area. Also, inside it has the oldest park in Barcelona, the Labyrinth of Horta. Considered the garden of love, since when entering the maze you find the figure of Cupid and his arrows of love.

Continuing with the outdoor areas, another mandatory stop within the neighbourhood is to go up to enjoy the views from Los Búnkeres del Carmel, a viewpoint with one of the best views of Barcelona and Parc Güell, one of the main works of Gaudí in the city.

A wide gastronomical offer runs through the streets of the Horta – Guinardó neighbourhoods. From purely traditional Catalan references such as Es Bandoler, to other more elaborate stops such as Can Cortada, which opened this premises 20 years ago in the space occupied by the farmhouse of the former ‘viceroys’ of the town and is, of course, part of the Barcelona historical heritage.

Local businesses with personalized customer service are everywhere. In this neighbourhood, you can find many treasures of any kinds.

Our commitment to La Clota through L’Atmosfera has been our first foray into Barcelona. After analysis and selection of an area with great potential, we decided that the neighborhoods of Horta – Guinardó were the ideal ones to establish one of our residential projects.

It will be framed within an area currently undergoing restructuring called Central Park, where wide pedestrian roads and spacious green areas will prevail. All this is what has ended the name we have given it: L’Atmosfera. If you want to live in Horta – Guinardó and get more information about this promotion, you can contact us here
